This Saturday we're showing the documentary at Johannesburg's only independent cinema, The Bioscope.

Also screening is electro duo Double Adapter's tour documentary "Adapt or Die".

So last Sunday we played our first ever gig in Soweto. The dudes at Streetpop invited us to their gig at Dube Bowling Club. I'll be honest, it started out pretty hectic and gangsta but two songs in and even the most gangster (adjective) of gangsters (noun) was prancing around kissing his homeboys on the cheek:)

A little while ago we are asked by Locally Whipped magazine to interview CrashCarBurn, a pretty well known band from Johannesburg and be interviewed by them. Here's the result. Pity they left out our best questions, so here are the outtakes! And CrashCarBurn, if you're reading this, you're still welcome to answer them!

Back in 2007 after we recorded the first version of our album Tuckshop (which we ended up scrapping, long story) we sent some seps to our good old pal Paul Holden, who you may know as the King of Town. A little while later he sent us this crazy cool remix of our song Pictures.

Since then a lot has happened, as you know Paul's epic remix of Kiss You On The Cheek became world famous when the dudes at Tigersushi found it and released a nice little 12" single of it, Paul has moved to London and his remixes of The Detachments, Phenomenal Handclap Band, They Came From the Stars We Saw Them oh and Franz Ferdinand are securing him a spot in DJ history!

So another Tuckshop remix found its merry way into our inbox this morning. And low and behold, it might just be one of the best we've had yet. The Sound is from Cape Town, and have done a bunch of awesome remixes for some great local bands like kidofdoom, Fokofpolisiekar and aKing.

Hi friends.

To everyone that came to check us out at The Woods Street Party on Saturday, thanks a million, it was awesome to see you again.

Please accept our humblest apology for the unprofessional show.

Believe us when we say that we do our very best to put on the best show possible every time we play. So it really breaks our little hearts when we are told that the schedule is running two and half hours late, and that we're not going to get a soundcheck, and that the band before us is playing an hour and a half long set, and that the sound guys are running the power cables straight through the 1000+ crowd, and that we've got to cut our set down to 25 minutes when we had planned to play a bunch of brand new songs.

So again, we're sorry. And we'll make up for it soon. We promise. How does a new EP sound? Soon, my pretties, soon.

In the meantime, here's a video of Adrian Levi to cheer you up.

So as some of you may know, this French label called Tigersushi is releasing the Kiss You On The Cheek single. They sure are, and the vinyl was released this month along with the insanely awesome King Of Town remix and people all over the world are loving it.

Phonica Record Store in London said this about the record:

"Hands down Desmond & The Tutus is the best band name I've heard in ages and, happily, this single 'Kiss You On The Cheek' is deserving of such a wonderfully monikered creator. It's unashamedly cheesy, sunshiny electronic house indie pop gear - with harmonicas and everything..."

Last week I received some hate mail. I know what you're thinking, "That's awesome! You know you're hitting the big time when you're getting hate mail!" Ja, it wasn't that awesome. Please read on.

At 1:08am, Friday morning (presumably after waking up in a mixture of Strawberry Pops and his own vomit) he sent me this SMS:

Thanks for pointing out that the lead singer of the Pixies, one of the greatest bands of our or any time, was (and 'is' mind you) better than me. I hate to break it to you Pixies fan but the only thing Frank Black is innovative at doing these days is eating. No wonder the rest of the band hates him, they're all missing body parts thanks to him.

A little later, at 1:11am, he sent a little reiteration:

ie - if you didn't get it - ur lame & pathetic & SO last season - GET OVER IT! (& ESPECIALLY urself)

Cool, I think you made your point in the first SMS but thanks for clearing it up. Just to make sure that we're on the same page here, what you want me to understand is that I'm lame and pathetic AND so last season? That's quite a combo, I feel like I was just Fatality'd by the gay Scorpio in some retarded game of Mortal Kombat.

Anyway, after a lot of research and number tracing and serious CSI zooming into photo jolling I finally found out who the culprit is. It's this little guy in the photo below.

Shame little guy.
